I am looking at using Plimus for payment processing, but I can only see a static, pre-generated license key list method. Is there a way to get Plimus to go to an ASP.NET setup and use user details (Name, Company and email address) to generate a license key? If yes, would Plimus hold the user data or would my ASP.NET ILS app, or both? Any recommendations gratefully received.

This is probably really a question for Plimus. I just checked their FAQ (http://www.plimus.com/faq.html#696) and they say that they support generating custom licenses either by calling a generator on your website or by hosting a generator on their website - but their aren't a lot of details.

You would need to ask if they support .NET applications as license key generators. If they do then it is fairly easy to write a simple application that uses the ILS EncryptedLicenseProvider.GenerateKey method to generate license keys. Typically this has to conform to their specifications (ie take certain command line parameters and generate certain output).

The other alternative is to host the generator on your own ASP.NET website. This is probably preferable from a security point of view - as you don't have to give away a key generator to a third party. But does require you have an understanding of ASP.NET. Once again they will have specifications about how they interface to Key Generator web pages which your web page will have to conform to.
