Do you have any suggestions or ideas as to how to incorporate ILS for a component which can be run in Internet Explorer ? In this case the license key isnt saved in the context and we would probably want to download a license file from the url that the assembly was downloaded from. This would allow us to include server info to license by URL or server name.
Thanks,

Are you asking here about a client side component (ie not an ASP.NET component)? If so what is the distribution model (are you selling directly to end customers)?
If you are asking about an ASP.NET component these are typically licensed by reading the license key from a specified file. The license can be tied to the server name or URL _________________ Infralution Support |

Hi,
Yes, this is a .Net component that runs on the client side hosted in Internet Explorer. Its not an ASP.Net server side component.
In our current homegrown licensing code we check the codebase for the component and if its downloaded from a URl then we get the license data from the URL + our lic file name.
I was hoping to get similar support in ILS so we can dump our code and migrate to yours.
Basically for licensing we would want to license to a specific URL/Servername/hostname which we would include as extra data in the license and add the hash to the license key.
Thanks,

ILS allows you to take full control over loading the license key (you load the license key then use the EncryptedLicenseProvider.ValidateLicenseKey method to verify and extract the license information). So you should be able to implement the license loading in the same way as your current homegrown solution. _________________ Infralution Support |
