I've just installed Vista x64 and I can't get Virtual Tree to work without manually setting the config to x86 and forcing it to be a 32bit app.

The VirtualTree has a huge red cross through it and then complains about not being able to load Infralution.Richtext, will there be an x64 compatible version anytime?

Using 3.2.1.0, Vista x64, VS2005.

Unfortunately it was not possible to interface with Microsofts RichText engine (to provide Rich Text support for Virtual Tree) without some unmanaged (Win32 specific) code. This means that Virtual Tree needs to run in Win32 mode. You can specify Win32 as the platform when you compile your application (so that x64 end users don't have to set the config for the application).

It may be possible to develop an x64 version of Infralution.RichText.DLL that would allow Virtual Tree to run in 64 bit mode. However your installation program would then need to install the correct version of this DLL - which is a little cumbersome.

Version 2.6.4 of Virtual Tree (which runs under VS2003 and VS2005) did not have RichText support and so may well run under x64. You can download it from our downloads page (www.infralution.com/downloads.html)

From Version 3.3.3 onwards if you are not actually using RichText then the RichText dll is not loaded. This means you should be able to run in x64 mode provided you are not using the RichText features.

Version 4.2.0 of Virtual Tree has been released and eliminates this issue. Rich Text rendering is now implemented in managed AnyCPU code (in Infralution.Controls.RichTextRenderer) eliminating the need for the Infralution.RichText Win32 assembly.
