Is there any way of resetting FirstUseDate in the development environment (short of spending time establishing exactly where it's stored)?
I've got an application using ILS that allows eg 30 days trial based on the timespan between Now and the FUD, but I'm now tripping over the fact that the resulting timespan is currently >30 days and can't test the program as completely as I'd like. I know there's various ways I could fudge this (presumably like changing the validation parameters every 30 days or disabling the line of code that tests this condition and then remembering to reset again) but none is ideal and it would be simplest if I could just reset the FUD.
Obviously this wouldn't be appropriate for use outside the IDE because it would make it too easy to circumvent the ILS protection. But is there anything that can be done for development purposes within the (VB2005) IDE? |

You can use the EvaluationMonitor.Reset method to reset the evaluation period. You can either do this from within your own code or write a small external program that uses the same ProductID to do it.
Also see the FAQ on resetting/extending the evaluation period in the field. _________________ Infralution Support |
