I'm using the ipn test tool and we can connect to both our authentication server and ipn server from within ILS fine. when we use the ipn test tool to post data, we get this error:

error posting data: the remote server returned an error: (500) internal server error

I've run the trace tool, and it's empty, except for the post data, there is no red error text, nothing.

I assume the error is to do with being unable to connect, but we can connect fine otherwise.

All help is hugely appreciated!

thankyou

If you could email support@infralution.com the IPN.NET URL so we can see the trace ourselves or send us a copy of the log then we should be able to help.

I got the same issue. Connecting via ILS to upload new product works fine. However simulating sales results in Error 500

Resolved it by entering logon info of the mailbox in the IPN server configuration. When testing locally this was not needed.

I got the same issue messing around in a VM with a trial version. I am using the localhost server and hadn't set the email server properly.

I installed smtp4dev from http://smtp4dev.codeplex.com/ After messing up its settings and crashing smtp4dev I set them back to the way it came and it works fine now, even capturing the emails.

The 500 error is a mail server misconfiguration. Using v 4.0.4. The xmls in the logs under C:\Program Files (x86)\Infralution\IPN.NET 4\Server\logs all look the same, no indication of errors.

The logs at C:\Users\CADbloke\Documents\IISExpress\Logs\Development Web Site

have entries like ...

I'm back. This time I used my google apps account as per the instructions at https://support.google.com/a/answer/176600?hl=en & using smtp.gmail.com. See the bit that says to use port 465 for SSL? That's a lie. Use the TLS port 587 and tick the "use SSL" box in the IPN.NET config.

Product launch is still coming soon. I'm tired.

CADbloke

Using Port 587 just saved my bacon! Thanks.
