|

The invariant culture of our .net Projects is en-US (fallback language).
Our translator wants to get the texts in XLIFF Format.
But he needs to get german as source language.
When we export to xliff the resulting file e.g. "translation_zh.xlf" contains only english as the source and chinese as the target.
Is there a a way in Globalizer to differentiate between invariant culture and translation source language? |

You need to add German as a culture to your workspace (using the Target > Cultures...) menu - then click the Add button and select German. Once German is added to the workspace you can export it to XLIFF using File > Export. Just select German as the culture to export. This will create an XLIFF file with English as the source and German as the target. _________________ Infralution Support |

I already added German as a culture.
But there is no way to export a XLIFF file with an other source than the invariant culture.
Example: When I have English as the invariant culture, I do not have the possibility to generate a XLIFF file with German as the source and Chinese as the target. |

So you have a translator who speaks Chinese and German - but your invariant is English and the translator does not speak English - is that right?
Normally you want translations done from the invariant - because that is the original language that the software is developed. Going through another translation does increase the likelihood of mistranslation.
The XLIFF export mechanism does not currently support doing what you want. Of course if the translator used the free Globalizer translator edition to do the translation then you could send them the complete workspace with German, English and Chinese and this would not be an issue. _________________ Infralution Support |
