We upgraded ILS from 5.8.1 to 5.11.2, and performed database schema upgrade by running Install.aspx. However, it returned an error:

An unexpected error occurred while installing/upgrading the database. You may need to delete the database and try again.
Error: Invalid License Tracker database version. Expected (5.5) got (5.4.0)

Verified that the AuthenticationServer.dll version is 5.11.2, and the database user has admin permission.

What is going wrong?

Thanks,
John

This error means that your Authentication Server is configured to connect directly to the License Tracker database - but that database has not been upgraded yet to the required version. The Authentication Server Install page only upgrades standalone authentication databases it won't upgrade the main License Tracker database if you are connected directly to it. To upgrade the License Tracker database you must install ILS and complete the Configure License Tracker Database wizard (by ensuring it is pointing at the correct database). It will upgrade the License Tracker database and your Authentication Server should then be OK.

This is somewhat strange because the first step of installing the upgrade would normally be to install the software and upgrade your License Tracker database. You should ensure that you have License Tracker and the Authentication Server configured to be using the same database.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah running the License tracker configuration wizard took care of it.
