If you are upgrading from an older version of ILS then you will to upgrade your Authentication Server web services.
Upgrading from Version 5 and later
1. Download and backup your current authentication server site and make a backup of your License Tracker database
2. Install the new version of ILS and allow it to upgrade your License Tracker database
3. Upload the new Authentication Server binaries (from C:\Program Files (x86)\Infralution\Licensing System 6\AuthenticationServer) to your website. Copy everything EXCEPT the App_Data directory and the web.config file.
4. Navigate to the Install.aspx web page in a browser and run the installer which will upgrade your authentication database if required.
Upgrading from Version 4
The standalone Authentication Database schema was changed quite substantially between Version 4 and 6. Version 6 no longer uses the separate AuthenticationServerSettings.xml file to configure the products. Instead the products can be configured directly from License Tracker.
These changes mean it isn't possible to just upgrade the data in the standalone Authentication Database using the normall Install.aspx page. Instead the Install.aspx script removes the data and upgrades the schema. After the upgrade is complete you then upload the data from the main License Tracker database.
The upgrade process for upgrading from Version 4 is:
1. Before upgrading ensure that you have imported the latest authentications into License Tracker using the Authentication->Import Data menu
2. Make a backup of your Authentication Server web site (including the database) in case you want to revert to version 4.
3. Make a backup of your License Tracker database.
4. Run the Version 6 installer on your local computer and upgrade your License Tracker database.
5. Upload the new Authentication Server files (including the new blank Authentication.mdb database - overwriting your old database) to your web site.
6. Run the Install.aspx page in your browser to complete the installation.
7. Open License Tracker and use the Authentication >Configure Server menu. Enter the URL of your Authentication Server (the upgrade process will reset this to the local server) and select the Upload Authentication Data option and click OK. This will configure the products in the authentication database and then upload any existing authentication data. _________________ Infralution Support |
