As it is, scrolling is always done by an integral number of rows. This is a problem with very tall rows. For instance, a row may be so tall that the bottom of the row can never be displayed because the top of the row is aligned with the top of the displayed area. Even with less tall rows (say, 5 lines) scrolling is confusing because a single scroll operation moves the view quite far.
Would it be possible to get something like "floating point"-scrolling? Perhaps by making the existing scroll commands (scroll wheel and scrollbar click) use absolute positioning, and then use the default (or minimum) row height to determine the amount of scrolling that should be performed?
I suppose the current design pretty much assumes that the top row is aligned to the top of the displayed area, so it could pose problems to change this behaviour. But virtualtree really would be a lot nicer to work with if scrolling was smooth, also with rows more than one line high. |
