A hopefully quick question - when the License Tracker authenticates a license file, I see that it goes to the authentication server, but if that fails, then it can authenticate locally. Is the sole purpose of going to the authentication server just to check and update the number of authentications on that license key? Is there any other reason for doing this? |

Thats right - the reason for going to the Authentication Server is just to keep it in sync. Otherwise you might manually authenticate a license file for someone - but if the authentication server isn't notified then the customer could still authenticate the key on another computer. _________________ Infralution Support |

When the authentication server is up, there's no problem, but how do you authenticate the file if the server is down? Thank you. |

In version 4.7.0 this function was changed so that if contacting the Authentication Server fails for some reason you are given the option of just authenticating the file locally. Of course this means that the authentications server database will be out of sync (until you use Export Data to Server) - but at least you can still authenticate if there is a problem with your server. _________________ Infralution Support |
