Hi,

We have all our sales info in license tracker on a local machine, and our authentication info on a hosted MSSQL, which we periodically import. As we are now moving to IPN for our sales, we would like to move our current sales info(access) to MS SQL on the hosted server.

What is the best way to migrate the data? Can we just use the Access export to SQL wizard, make sure triggers, indexes etc are also exported. Then restore the newly created SQL DB on the hosted machine. Then to just check all is ok, run the install.aspx again for IPN?

Or should we create empty DB in SQL first, and run install.aspx then migrate the data over table, by table? What about constraints then?

What do you recommend?

Thanks!
Anton

Definitely do NOT use the Access upsizing wizard.

First make sure you have imported all authentication and IPN.NET data into your existing License Tracker database and make a backup. Then run the Infralution License Tracker Database Configuration wizard and enter the parameters for a new "License" database on the hosted SQL server (do NOT use your existing SQL Server Authentication Database). Then if you already had an existing Access database installed you will be asked if you would like to copy the data from your existing database. Select "yes" and all your existing data will be copied into the SQL database.

Now you can run both the Authentication Server and IPN.NET Install.aspx pages and point them at the new License database. This will mean that both will now write data directly into your main License Tracker database.
