Good morning

my company is developing a suite of .NET components that will be sold via web. Actually, we don't have any licensing protection and we are planning to buy ILS.

The question is:

1. the customer decide to buy the product and go to the website
2. the customer goes to "buy" page
3. the transaction success (the customer paid)
4. an email is automatically and immediately sent to the customer with his name/key to unlock the product

Now: how make the point 4?

Thank you.

How you do this depends on whether you sell direct - or use a reseller like ShareIt. If you use a reseller like ShareIt to handle your transactions then you typically can supply them with a list of pre-generated keys which they then issue automatically via email to purchasing customers.

If you are handling the transaction on your own web page then you would write some ASP.NET code to call the EncryptedLicenseProvider.GenerateKey method to generate keys on the fly.

ShareIt and other resellers do also provide a mechanism to allow you to provide your own key generators. You can do this fairly easily by writing a small .NET program that conforms to their requirements and uses the EncryptedLicenseProvider.GenerateKey method to generate the keys. This has the advantage that you can incorporate customer information into the license key - but the disadvantage that you have to trust a third party with your license generator.

Now it is much more clear.

Thank you for the clear and kind response!

Jeff.
