This exception occurs when building satellite assemblies using Globalizer.NET version 1.7.0 if a Visual Studio 2008 project uses a password protected strong name (.pfx file) to sign the assembly.
The problem arises because Microsoft have created a new format (.pfx) for password protected strong name files in Visual Studio 2008. If you select the “Protect my key file with a password” option when creating this option then it uses this new format.
We are investigating what we need to do to be able read the new password protected format – however there is very little information from Microsoft about this and so it may take some time to develop a fix. In the meantime it is still possible to sign assemblies in VS2008 using the older “snk” format by not checking the “Protect my key file with a password” option when you create a new strong name. Globalizer.NET will then be able to load and use these strong name files for signing assemblies. _________________ Infralution Support |

This issue has now been fixed in the latest release of Globalizer.NET (1.7.1) which can read password protected strong name files. _________________ Infralution Support |
