Hi there,

I am using Globalizer.NET 1.5.1.0 and I have the following problem. Kindly assist.

We are working on Chinese (Simplified) translation.

Each time from Globalizer that I choose to Start Application with Chinese (Simplified), it changes my Regional Setting to Chinese (Taiwan). The end result is that the application is launched with only English showing, because Chinese (Taiwan) does not go with Chinese (Simplified).

It is our understanding that
Chinese (PRC), Chinese (Singapore) works with Code Page 936 for Chinese Simplified; while Chinese (Taiwan) and Chinese (Macau SAR) and Chinese (Hong Kong SAR) work with Code Page 950 for Chinese (Traditional). And therefore, it doesn't work.

I have checked with our development team on this and they believe that this is not something within their control (with the Developer edition of this tool) and therefore I am posting this here.

Please advise and many thanks.

I think you are right there is an issue here. The problem is that there is no windows culture that directly corresponds to Chinese Simplified - and Globalizer.NET is choosing the wrong locale. We will fix this in the next release of Globalizer.NET (later this week).

In the meantime you can work around the issue by adding Chinese (PRC) or Chinese (Singapore) as a language (in addition to Chinese Simplified) in the Developer edition of the tool. You don't need to supply any translations for Chinese (PRC) because it will automatically inherit any Chinese Simplified translations. Then when you want to run the application select Start Application->Chinese (PRC). This will enable Globalizer to select the correct regional settings.

Version 1.6.0 of Globalizer.NET has now been released and fixes this issue. The developer will need to upgrade the Developer Edition to 1.6 and re-export the translations for you to open them in Translator Edition 1.6.
