Hello All,

I am installing infralution license tracker 6.2.0. Going through the wizard I use SQL Server and then get to the point where is asks for me to put the name of the sQL Server DB. I have an existing db that i use and i know it works because I have installed on another computer. When i clikc next I get an error: "There was an error opening a connection to the databse. Check the connection parameters are correct"

I am wondering if there are logs created during the install or what else i can do to figure out what is wrong. Any help appreciated

If I understand correctly the the DB is on one PC and you are trying to install ILS on another PC and go through the wizard?

One quick check you could do is try to setup a quick ODBC connector to your SQL database on this PC as if this works and TEST OK you know your credentials are OK and nothing blocking the inter-machine comms such as a firewall/AV.

My thoughts.

Along the same lines. I would try installing SQL Management Studio (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt238290.aspx) and try connecting to the remote machine using the same credentials. Most likely it is a problem with how you have specified the SQL Server name.

I had thought about that too, but installing management studio a more lengthy process that a quick ODBC connection test as that utility is part of windows OS. That said Management Studio would probably be useful anyway if the DBMS is on another PC.

I agree with support it is likely to be the server name especially if you didnt install SQL under the default instance name.

Thanks guys for your help. Turns out I had the SQL Server name and the DB name reversed in the boxes in the wizard.
