Hi,

I know it is possible with the ILS UI elements and License Tracker application to authenticate licenses offline. However this is only a fallback for online authentication.

Our software is used in an industrial environment on machines without internet access, so offline authentication will be the default case.
Is it possible to configure ILS, especially the License Tracker, to use only manual authentication and thus completely eliminate the need for an authentication server?

Also, in this scenario it would be possible to spare our customers the need for entering a license code. We would then require from our customer a file that only contains the hardware ID of the target machine. Generation of the license code and authentication could then happen in one step.

What would be the effort to realize this authentication procedure with ILS and possibly the License Tracker?

Thanks,
Sebastian

To do this you would use Encrypted Licenses rather than Authenticated Licenses. Then when you generated the license key you include the hardware ID in the ProductInfo of the generated key. This is encrypted into the actual key and when your application validates the key it would extract the ID and verify that it matches the hardware. You could send the key to the customer in a file that they can save to the appropriate location.

Because the ProductInfo is encrypted into the actual key we recommend keeping it relatively short in order to keep the generated key short. So I would recommend using a hash of your hardware ID to keep the ID you include in the key to a few characters.
