Hi
Our main language is German and we have translations in French, Dutch, English and Finnish.
Our Finnish translations are outdated because our customer did it himself and now they have half German half Finnish.
We do have an up to date English translation but because German is our main language the .NET Framework is using German as fallback language.
My idea now was that during resx generation Globalizer could do the job and merge Finnisch and English resources into the Finnish resx file.
So every time there is no Finnish resource it is using the English one, if there is one.
Another idea, if you won't implement or until it is implemented was to use the event system for resx generation. Do you have an idea if this would be doable with it and what events I should use?
I guess I need something after all language files of a resource are written and then run a custom tool to do the merge job.
Thanks for your help.

My suggestion would be that you simply copy the English translations for the untranslated Finish items and set the state to "Needs Review" so that you can quickly identify when items still require translation. The following steps outline how to do this easily.
1. Use the Translation > Filter mechanism to display only the untranslated Finnish items.
2. Turn off the "Set Translation Status on Edit" option (in Tools > Options)
3. Select all of the untranslated Finish items (select the 1st item and then Ctrl-A to select the whole column) and set the Translation Status to "Needs Review"
4. Then select all of the corresponding English items and then copy them to the Finish (by selecting the first Finish item and then Edit > Paste)
5. Turn the "Set Translation Status on Edit" option back on. _________________ Infralution Support |
